OMH ProScreen, Inc. USA PVG-C96 Topsoil Screener Product Review

On a build site recently, I had the chance to closely examine and inspect the OMH ProScreen, Inc. USA PVG-C 96 model topsoil screener.  I was impressed with the efficiency of its design and features that you don’t see in other comparable medium-sized soil, rock and dirt screeners.

The PVG-C96 is a solid, sturdy two-screener, three-product unit made of high-grade steel yet it is completely portable.  On the front are fork pockets and lifting lugs so they can easily be picked up and moved to another part of the work site. They can also be loaded onto a flatbed and towed with a pickup to another job site.

Often it can take half a day to change out screens on other vendor’s models, but part of the unique features built into the OMH design is how easy it is to change out screens.  Easily-accessible bolts hold the screens onto the screening bed and it takes 15 minutes to slide one screen out and another one in.

The unit is powered by a Genuine HONDA GX200 engine which runs on gasoline.  The PVG-C 96 topsoil screener can operate 3 hours on a gallon of gas.  It is also a quieter motor than most others making less cumulative noise on the work site.

All soil screeners work on the same principle –  feed a load of ground aggregate into a hopper and gravity and a vibrating screen bed separate the different sizes of material.  But, the OMH screeners have features not found in other topsoil screeners.  It has an adjustable extender arm to the 8-foot hopper so you can adjust the angle to fit your feeder equipment.  With a seven foot feeder height no ramp is needed to feed the unit.

The PVG-C 96 I looked at had a high tensile 2 inch scalper screen with a 1 inch base. The raw material went into the hopper and the larger rock started coming out the front.  The smaller rocks fed onto a vulcanized rubber conveyor belt that deposited  it in a pile to  the side.  The final smallest material – topsoil – came out the back.   After awhile the different piles were scooped up and taken to where needed. The loads can also be fed back through the screeners if cross-transfer occurs - especially if the material is damp or moist – for further reduction.  I approximate that the PVG-C 96 can process 30-40 yards of material an hour depending on the material.

Probably the most important feature of the OMH ProScreen, Inc. USA PVG-C96 is its affordability.  It doesn’t take much price-comparison with different vendors for one to see how economical ProScreen, Inc. USA topsoil screeners are.  For any amount of money there isn’t a more highly efficient, durable and reliable portable soil screener on the market.   dcb
